Corona Dailies

Journaling my way through the pandemic

MAY 22, 2020: Will things ever get better?

I’m going to leave this video here. It’s an ad, but nothing in it is untrue.

At this point, over 1.5 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and over 95,000 have died.

The death rate of those diagnosed (number of deaths divided by number of cases) has reached 6 percent, indicative of the stress the Coronavirus has put on our health care system in America, and the fact that those already disadvantaged due to race or socioeconomic status are among the groups with the highest rates of infection.

Someone looking at this years and decades down the road will ask why anyone would support someone with such a long list of failures and such an absolute absence of empathy. Yet today, there are many who still support the president.

Which makes me want to ask those people, as they go to the polls in November’s election:

Knowing what we’ve already experienced since 2017, are you willing to let this person have the keys to the country for four more years?

Are you willing to bet your life on that?
