Corona Dailies

Journaling my way through the pandemic

AUGUST 17, 2020: Only one thing matters right now ~

I know, it’s been a long time between drinks of water around here. Work got extremely busy and sucked all my time and effort for about a month.

In the meantime, the case numbers and the death toll from the Coronavirus pandemic continue to grow. We’re currently well over five million diagnosed with COVID-19 in America, and over 170,000 have now lost their lives. Whatever else happens right now, with the economy, the state of education, health care, or politics in general, THAT is the story.

There are no other subjects to discuss. Nothing else matters.

People don’t want to be told to go back to their workplace if it means potentially picking up a deadly virus. Regardless of the inconvenience of parents having to work from home and help their kids with their virtual schoolwork, they don’t want to send their sons or daughters to a place where they could potentially pick up a deadly virus.

And these concerns aren’t random. Every person I speak with, regardless of their political leanings, are keeping Coronavirus concerns at the top of their worries for the fifth straight month.

It’s not getting better in America. There are absolutely no bright spots in the numbers, the economy, or anything else. No one in the administration is doing anything about it.

I don’t have the perfect answer. The president doesn’t have the perfect answer. The experts have the perfect answers: wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, watch your distance around others.

Actually, there are two things I do know:
1. Until we do what the experts are asking us to do, this will continue.
2. And it doesn’t have to.

Only when strict lock downs are imposed, and contact tracing method are implemented effectively in America, it may end. I hope your country overcome this soon.
